Welcome OISRA Racers!!
Welcome, one and all, to the exciting OISRA season opener – Kelsey’s Race. From across Oregon, new racers, experienced veterans, teams, individuals, family volunteers, committed race workers, and eager spectators are invited to gather at the one-of-a-kind Kelsey Hewitt Memorial Race – the largest single-day alpine ski race in America!
Participation is easy. Simply register through your team, put some creative thought into a costume (racing in normal ski clothes is perfectly acceptable), perhaps bake some cookies to share, and show up early at Mt. Hood Meadows for the funnest race of your life. And don’t forget to plan on sticking around for the swag laden awards ceremony!

Hello and welcome from the Hewitt Family
You could say that the Hewitt family is a skiing family. Kelsey’s parents, Randy and Elise, met and started dating in college largely because of skiing and ski racing. Not being ones to procrastinate, we booted up both of our children, Kelsey and Braden, when they were just wee tots – about 3 years old. From that point forward, we were making ski tracks every winter, often in the company of grandparents Don and Linda, a few aunts and uncles, and several lifelong skier friends.

Testimonial
“I had such a great time at the Kelsey race. I love the energy, the spirit, and seeing kids who have never raced before overcome their nerves and have the chance to experience a race before the season starts.”

Costumes, Cookies, and More
What could be more fun than racing in a costume and being served cookies all day long?
Teams that dress in costumes maximize their fun quota. Some develop song and dance routines, others don’t hold back with coordinated, hand-crafted outfits. Some simply throw together a bit of this and a bit of that – let your creativity fly! Just remember as you plan your outfits, racers must still wear a numbered bib and a legit racing helmet, we don’t want anyone to get hurt.
